Semi-Automatic Firearms Ban
Unlawful to knowingly manufacture, deliver, sell, import, or purchase a firearm classified as an assault weapon, or to cause another person to manufacture, deliver, sell, import, or purchase a firearm classified as an assault weapon with very limited exceptions. Hardware Bans & Other Equipment Restrictions
Large Capacity Magazines: It is unlawful to knowingly manufacture, deliver, sell, or purchase a large capacity ammunition feeding device, or to cause another person to manufacture, deliver, sell, or purchase a large capacity ammunition feeding device subject to narrow exceptions. 720 ILCS 5/24-1.10 Machine Guns: Illinois prohibits the knowing sale, manufacture, purchase, possession or carrying of a machine gun. 720 Ill. Private Transfers
Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Cards issued by the Department of State Police are required for acquisition or possession of firearms. 430 Ill. Comp. Red Flag Law
Illinois has a red flag law enacted as the Firearms Restraining Order Act.
