Several bills proposed in the past legislative session and again this year would increase the amount of time allowed the FBI to complete background checks before weapons could be sold. Currently if such checks are not finished after three days, stores can complete the sale, though if the FBI later determines the purchaser was ineligible for a gun, authorities will attempt to retrieve it.
