Nevada: Anti-Hunting Bill to be Heard this Thursday

Monday, March 4, 2013

Senate Bill 82, introduced by the Senate Natural Resources Committee, directly targets lawful hunting by Nevadans.  This bill would classify the black bear as a “protected mammal” and would prohibit the Board of Wildlife Commissioners from authorizing the hunting of black bears.

Hunting is an essential component of effective wildlife management. It reduces conflicts between people and wildlife, and provides incentives for the conservation of wildlife habitats and ecosystems on which wildlife depends.

SB 82 is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Natural Resources Committee this Thursday, March 7, at 1:30 p.m. in room 1214 of the Legislative Building, located at 401 S. Carson Street, Carson City. The hearing will also be video-conferenced to room 4412E of the Grant Sawyer State Office Building, located at 555 E. Washington Ave., Las Vegas. Please contact the members of the Senate and Natural Resources Committee today and urge them to oppose this anti-hunting measure. Contact information is provided for you below.
