On Tuesday, Cruz toured LaRue Tactical, a semi automatic rifle manufacturer that occupies a cluster of green buildings just off Ronald W. Reagan Boulevard in Leander, north of Austin. The tour offered him an opportunity to praise the Second Amendment. Workers, dressed in black and khaki, gathered around the precision machines and applauded his promise to oppose gun control efforts under way in Washington.
"No amount of stripping the rights of the men and women here to defend themselves and defend their families will do anything to prevent violent criminals from carrying out horrific acts," he declared.
