Tuesday, May 1, 2012

DATE:       May 1, 2012
TO:            Unified Sportsmen of Florida & NRA Members and Friends
FROM:      Marion P. Hammer
                  USF Executive Director
                  NRA Past President

This morning, we received an e-mail from state Senator Greg Evers (R-Baker)praising an OpEd article by Senator Don Gaetz (R-Destin) and Representative Matthew Gaetz (R-Shalimar) titled "Standing Up For Stand Your Ground."

Senator Evers said, in part, [The article] "is an outstanding article and I stand with them 110% in full support of our Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground law.

As you will remember, I was a co-sponsor of the 2005 legislation creating the "Castle Doctrine" and the "Stand Your Ground Law."  I have been deeply disturbed by recent political attacks on law-abiding Floridian's fundamental rights of freedom and self protection.

When I came across this excellent article in, I wanted to be sure you saw it.  It simply and honestly sets forth the truth about these key Second Amendment doctrines.

I urge you to send the link to this article out to your members.  I know they will appreciate knowing they have this support."

We are agree with Senator Evers and APPLAUD both Senator Gaetz and Representative Matthew Gaetz for their outstanding support.
