REPORT ON  ROUND 26 - STOP Local Governments from Violating Preemption

House Bill 45, introduced by state Representative Matt Gaetz (R-4), was heard on the HOUSE FLOOR yesterday and it PASSED by a 85 to 33 vote.

Four Democrats voted for the bill.
ONE REPUBLICAN -- and 28 Democrats voted against it.   That one Republican was Douglas Broxson (R- 1, Milton)  doug.broxson@myfloridahouse.gov

Rep. Broxson refused to support the bill to hold local government officials accountable for their illegal actions in violating the preemption law and consequently the rights of law-abiding gun owners.  He was the lone Republican to vote with the anti-gun Democrats.

HB 45 would simply provide penalties for government officials, local governments and agencies that willfully and knowingly violate the state firearms preemption law.  State law prohibits local governments and government agencies from adopting any gun control ordinances or regulations.  There are some who are arrogantly violating the law because there are no penalties currently in the law.

REPORT ON ROUND 27 - STOP Doctors Violating Patient's Gun Privacy Rights

House Bill 155, sponsored by state Representative Jason Brodeur (R-33), was ALSO heard on the HOUSE FLOOR yesterday and it PASSED by a 88 to 30 vote.  Six Democrats voted FOR the bill.

HB 155
would stop anti-gun doctors from asking children and parents if they own guns and then telling them to get rid of their guns.  It further stops doctors from denying care to children if the parents refuse to answer questions about gun ownership.

MORE DETAILS ON THE VOTE COUNTS LATER!

All three Senate bills – SB 234, SB 402 & SB 432 -- will be up on the Senate Floor this morning.
