Pennsylvania: Pittsburgh Attacking the Second Amendment in Preparation of Next Month’s G-20 Summit!

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Please Contact Your Local Officials!

Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., the Pittsburgh City Council will consider an ordinance that attempts to undermine our Second Amendment rights by targeting so-called “assault weapons.”

This poorly written and misguided proposal is being labeled as an effort to help create a secure environment for next month’s G-20 Summit, even though the City Council has allocated $16 million for security and accepted $14.3 million in federal and state aid for such purposes.  Make no mistake - this is a back door attempt at an illegal gun ban.  Pennsylvania’s preemption statutes outlaws localities from enacting firearm laws more strict than state law.

Please contact Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and the City Council TODAY and respectfully urge them to oppose this illegal, unjust, and ill-conceived attack on our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.  The Mayor can be reached by phone at

[email protected].  Contact information for the City Council can be found below.
