Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania Passes “Lost or Stolen” Ordinance

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Please Contact the Mayor Today!

On Wednesday, June 3, the Borough of Wilkinsburg unanimously approved an ordinance that would require gun owners to report a lost or stolen firearm within a 24-hour period or face fines and possible imprisonment.  The proposal now heads to the desk of Mayor John Thompson for his consideration.

Mayor Thompson has already come forward in support of the ordinance, brazenly ignoring the fact that it violates Pennsylvania’s current state preemption laws.  He is aware of the current lawsuits filed against Pittsburgh and other municipalities in the state but is choosing to ignore state law and the rights of its citizens.

This ordinance will only make criminals out of the victims and will in no way curb crime in the borough or surrounding areas.

Please contact Mayor Thompson TODAY at (412) 244-2920 and respectfully urge him to oppose this direct and illegal attack on our Second Amendment rights.
