On Thursday, March 13, the House Public Safety Committee will consider House File 498, authored by State Representative Tony Cornish (R-24B).
HF 498, “Castle Doctrine” legislation, would restore the right to self-defense in Minnesota by removing the duty to retreat when outside the home. HF 498 would allow a person to use force, including deadly force, against a violent attacker, and provides that a person who uses force against an attacker shall be immune from criminal prosecution. Simply put, this legislation would greatly strengthen the right to self-defense in Minnesota.
Please contact the following members of the House Public Safety Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to protect your right to self-defense by supporting HF 498:
State Representative Brita Sailer (DFL-2B)
State Representative Dave Olin (DFL-1A)
