Important pro-hunting legislation, House Bill 2438, has passed the State Legislature and is on its way to the desk of Governor Chris Gregoire (D) for her consideration.
HB2438 would extend a pilot program that would permit certain counties to allow the pursuit and taking of cougars with the aid of dogs. It would also permit counties that are not part of the pilot program and which are experiencing cougar management problems to opt-in to the program. The Governor’s office is trying to position itself to veto this county opt-in provision.
This bill would help ensure public safety in Washington and protect private property, livestock, as well as human life and safety.
Please contact the Governor TODAY and respectfully urge her to sign this vital hunting initiative in full without vetoing any portion of it.
