House Bill 1261, introduced by State Representative Thomas Brunner (R-29) and State Senator Dennis Schmidt (R-33), is now unfortunately dead for the 2008 Legislative Session.
After being voted down in the Senate by a narrow 14-17 margin, an attempt to revive HB1261 by a procedural move failed. HB 1261 would have prevented universities from passing regulations that infringe on a law-abiding citizen’s Right-to-Carry if a person is complying with existing state laws.
Thank you to all the NRA members who answered the call and contacted their State Legislators in support of this important bill. Rest assured that NRA won’t give up on this effort to protect our right to self-defense.
