On Monday, February 25, House Bill 137 (Quarberg, R-28) overwhelmingly passed the Wyoming House (54-4) and now heads to the Senate, where it will likely face strong opposition from county prosecutors--particularly the Natrona County (Casper) Attorney. HB 137 is a “Castle Doctrine” bill that restores your right to self-defense and protects citizens from being criminally prosecuted for protecting themselves and their families from criminal attack.
Opponents of this bill in the legislature are desperate to defeat this bill and could decide to send it to an “unfriendly” committee, where it will be easier to defeat, or not assign a committee to hear the bill at all.
Please take the time to contact your State Senator by calling the Voter Hotline to voice your support for HB 137 at (1-866-996-VOTE) or by email. Please also send an additional email to Senate President John Schiffer asking him to assign the bill to a “friendly” committee and give it his full support.
