Early this morning, Assembly Bill 581 passed the State Assembly by a vote of 84-13. Sponsored by Assemblyman Scott Gunderson (R-83), AB 581 would prevent the state of Wisconsin from restricting the possession, transfer, sale, transport, storage, display, or use of firearms or ammunition during a declared state of emergency.
Simply stated, AB 581 will prevent government authorities from confiscating firearms from law-abiding citizens, such as occurred in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
The bill now heads to the State Senate for its consideration. Please keep checking your email and www.NRAILA.org for updates on this critical piece of legislation.
