Please Contact Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong Today!
As of July 2007, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has revamped his Right-to-Carry permit application process to include the serial numbers of the firearms the permittee will be qualifying with and carrying. According to a spokesperson for the Sheriff, the purpose behind the move is to “utilize the permit process to track stolen firearms.”
At that time, there were only three counties that required serial numbers on the permit applications - Clark, Esmerelda, and Nye counties. It was optional on the applications of both Pershing and Humboldt Counties. However, since August, Nye County, home of Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs President Tony DeMeo, has removed the serial number mandate from the permit application.
Please take a moment to contact Sheriff Furlong and respectfully request that he follow the lead of Sheriff DeMeo and REMOVE the serial number mandate on the permit application. There are other methods to retrieve stolen firearms and a de facto firearms registration scheme is not one of them. Sheriff Furlong can be reached by calling his office at (775) 887-2020 or via email at [email protected].
