On July 24, in a surprising move, the Lincoln City Council voted 5-2 to withdrawal Mayor Coleen Seng’s (D) proposal (06-107) to ban concealed handguns within city limits. It will not be addressed at the Monday July 31 hearing.
The 5-2 vote makes it unlikely that it will come back up at a later time. Its withdrawal keeps law-abiding citizens, who possess a permit to carry a concealed handgun, from becoming criminals when they enter Lincoln city limits.
