On Wednesday, February 8, the Virginia House of Delegates passed two NRA-supported bills: House Bill 162, sponsored by Delegate Scott Lingamfelter (R-31), and House Bill 1265, sponsored by Delegate Bill Janis (R-56).
Passing the House with a vote of 74-22, HB 162 would allow law-abiding citizens to store a firearm in a locked vehicle. HB 1265, which passed the House unanimously with a vote of 97-0, would prevent the Governor or any government authority from limiting your Right to Keep and Bear Arms during a declared state of emergency.
Special thanks to both Delegate Scott Lingamfelter and Delegate Bill Janis for their leadership and stalwart defense of freedom!
HB 162 and HB 1265 are now headed to the State Senate and should be placed on the calendar soon. Please contact your State Senator at (804) 698-7460 and ask him or her to support these pro-Second Amendment measures!
Also, on Wednesday, February 8, the House Health, Welfare, and Institutions Committee passed House Bill 1531 by a bipartisan vote of 20-2. Sponsored by Delegate Ward Armstrong (D-10), HB 1531 would prohibit medical professionals from asking patients questions regarding firearm ownership and possession.
Over the next few days the House of Delegates will be considering this pro-gun bill. Please contact your Delegate at (804) 698-1500 and strongly encourage him or her to protect your privacy by supporting HB 1531 on the House floor!
