Having won passage for a deadly force bill in the 2005 Legislature, the NRA is pushing another gun-related measure for next year`s session that would guarantee gun owners could not have their firearms confiscated during emergencies, such as hurricanes. ``The breakdown of civil order in New Orleans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina demonstrates that Americans` right to keep and bear arms are especially important during a state of emergency," said Chris W. Cox, the NRA`s chief lobbyist.
