This Thursday, April 21, the Oregon Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing and work session on SB 956. This bill is gun control extremist Senator Ginny Burdick`s re-tooled attempt to strip the state firearms preemption law and allow local school boards to impose restrictions on the possession of firearms by Concealed Handgun Licensees in school buildings. This bill is particularly dangerous because it could be used by gun control advocates as a vehicle for more restrictions on where CHLs can lawfully carry. This would result in a confusing patchwork of regulations on law-abiding licensees across the state.
This is the second bill that Senator Burdick has filed on this issue, and the second public hearing she has set. It is critical that as many CHLs and Second Amendment supporters as possible attend Thursday`s hearing in opposition to SB 956. The hearing will be held at 1:00pm in Room 343 of the State Capitol in Salem.
