Olmsted County Sheriff Steve Borchardt was cooling down from his 6 a.m. run in Rochester Tuesday when a neighbor pulled up in his pickup truck to ask how he could get his gun permit. The question came less than 12 hours after Gov. Tim Pawlenty had signed into law a measure expanding access to handgun permits in Minnesota. Borchardt`s answer to his neighbor was to take a class. Indeed, classes for gun training were filling up quickly at some ranges.
