"The reason they left empty-handed was because they went to
a gunfight armed with a knife," says former Army Ranger Robert
Lawton of Savannah, Georgia. Lawton was pulling into his apartment
complex when another car pulled up behind him and blocked him in. A
man jumped from the car and approached Lawton armed with a "large,
machete-type knife," demanding that Lawton surrender his car.
Lawton, who is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, drew his
handgun. "I put the gun on the bridge of his nose, between his
eyes, and explained that I was not giving up the car and that I had
no problem with putting a bullet in his head." The criminal
retreated to his car, and he and an accomplice sped away.
