An armed robber had successfully hit Kep Van Dang's
Pensacola, Fla., store twice in a week, but pressed his luck too far
when he tried a third time. Dang got a pistol after the second
robbery, in which the criminal threatened to come back. When the
robber returned and pointed a gun at Dang and a clerk, the
storekeeper pulled his new .38 and fired several shots, halting the
robbery and driving the man from the store. Police, who found a
wounded suspect several blocks away, said Dang would not be charged.
"We're going to keep that gun, it's our protection," said Dang
through an interpreter.
