Suspecting something was amiss in his Portland, Oreg., home, 68-year-old Robert Simmons fetched his pistol and began to search. The homeowner found his quarry--a burglar hiding beneath a bed--and led him at gunpoint to a phone, where he forced the intruder to call police and ask to be arrested.
