Bloomberg Proxy Releases Anti-Gun Manifesto; Proposes to Ban Cartoon Characters and Colors!

The name of U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.) headlines the Kelly Report, a new manifesto identifying a long list of gun control initiatives that anti-gun activists intend to pursue in the near future. However, the document appears to be the handiwork of Michael Bloomberg, whose misleadingly-named Independence USA political action committee contributed $2.1 million to Kelly’s congressional campaign last year. With Bloomberg’s help, Kelly was elected to fill the Chicago-area seat previously held by fellow gun control supporter Jesse Jackson, Jr., who is currently doing time in federal prison.

Ten Reasons Why States Should Reject "Assault Weapon" and "Large" Magazine Bans

In the late 1980s, gun control groups realized that they had failed in their original goal—getting handguns banned1—and began campaigning against semi-automatic firearms they called “assault weapons,” most of which are rifles. As an anti-gun activist group put it:

Two Anniversaries Gun Control Supporters Aren't Celebrating

Gun control supporters have lately used the 20th anniversary of Bill Clinton's signing of the Brady Act into law as an excuse to repeat their demand for "universal" background checks.  Even though most people who commit crimes with guns defeat the Brady Act by getting their guns by theft, on the black market, or from straw purchasers, anti-gunners have portrayed the law as having saved countless lives. Nevertheless, the gun ban movement is altogether ignoring two other significant anniversaries associated with its efforts.

Ruling Upholds Connecticut's Expansive Firearm and Magazine Bans Despite Findings that Banned Items are Commonly Used for Lawful Purposes

On January 30, 2014, a federal court judge upheld Connecticut's new gun control law as constitutional, notwithstanding its finding that "the act burdens the plaintiffs' Second Amendment rights …."  The ruling comes from U.S. District Court Judge Alfred Covello in response to a lawsuit filed last May challenging the constitutionality of Connecticut's new gun control legislation. In April, the Connecticut legislature hastily passed wide-ranging restrictions on Connecticut gun owners that embody several long-term planks of the anti-gunners' agenda, including an expanded ban on so-called "assault weapons," restrictions on magazine capacity, expansion of an existing "eligibility certificate" requirement to all firearms and ammunition, an expanded ban of private transfers, and registration of all non-conforming firearms and magazines, the possession of which was grandfathered under the law.

Cuomo says Firearm Advocates, Among Others, "Have No Place in the State of New York"

Last year, anti-gun New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) and the New York State Legislature conspired to circumvent normal legislative procedures in order to enact sweeping and extreme anti-gun laws in the state.  This week, the WashingtonExaminer.com reports that, during a recent interview, Cuomo added insult to injury as he listed pro-gun supporters as part of a group of extremists that "have no place in the state of New York."

2013 Year in Review

2013 was a year full of challenges and opportunities for our Second Amendment rights. The AR-15 Shines in New NRA Defensive Rifle Marksmanship Events

The popularity of the AR-15 as a general-purpose rifle that is useful for defense and sports alike was demonstrated during three NRA National Defense Matches (NDM) held at Peacemaker National Training Center in Glengary, West Virginia, last weekend. Though similar rifles are permitted under match rules, almost every shooter came equipped with an AR-15. For more than 15 years, the AR-15 has been the most commonly-used rifle during the joint NRA-Civilian Marksmanship Program National Matches, held annually at Camp Perry, Ohio.

Obama Claims AR-15 is a "Fully Automatic" Rifle

It has been widely reported that the killer in the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut last year was a semi-automatic AR-15 stolen from its rightful owner. In fact, it was for precisely that reason that President Obama said that gun control will be a "central issue" of his last four years in office.

Semi-Automatic Firearms and the “Assault Weapon” Issue Overview

Semi-automatic firearms were introduced more than a century ago. The first semi-automatic rifle was introduced in 1885, the first semi-automatic pistol in 1892, and the first semi-automatic shotgun in 1902. Semi-automatics account for about 20 percent of the 300 million privately-owned firearms in the United States and the percentage is quickly rising, because semi-automatics now account for about 50 percent of all new firearms bought annually. Americans bought about five million new semi-automatics in 2012.

S. 150: The Biggest Proposed Gun and Magazine Ban in American History

Like other gun control supporters, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) campaigned for banning handguns in the 1980s.1 Since the early 1990s, however, she has campaigned for banning a variety of firearms—mostly rifles—she calls “assault weapons,” along with any firearm magazine that holds 11 or more rounds of ammunition, which she calls “large.” Feinstein sponsored the federal “assault weapon” and “large” magazine ban imposed from 1994 to 2004.

Ever since Attorney General Eric Holder stated in 2009 that the Obama administration would work to reinstate Bill Clinton’s so-called “assault weapons ban,” Jesse Jackson and the gun-control lobby have grown increasingly impatient. Jackson and his allies want the president to begin his war on the Second Amendment right now.
