On June 20, 2014, Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed HB-89 into law, thus preventing law enforcement from arresting (and prosecutors from prosecuting) a good Samaritan or someone exercising lawful self-defense.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. Neil Combee, Rep. Katie Edwards, Sen. Greg Evers and had  49 other co-sponsors.

Prior to passage of the new so-called "Warning Shot" bill, law enforcement were wrongfully arresting people and abusive prosecutors were wrongfully charging people with aggravated assault and trying to put them in prison for 20 years for firing a warning shot or displaying a firearm in defense of themselves or others.

Thanks to the Legislature and Governor Rick Scott, that abuse must stop.
