The 120th South Carolina General Assembly convened today for its second regular session. The NRA's primary legislative objective this year will be the passage and enactment of Senate Bill 308, which seeks to make a number of improvements to the South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP). The most important aspect of S 308 would remove the prohibition on CWP holders carrying a concealed handgun into any establishment licensed to serve alcohol. Other improvements include extending the duration of the CWP, improving training standards, improving the application and renewal process, and expanding where a CWP holder may transport a firearm in his or her motor vehicle.
Your NRA-ILA is working to ensure these and other pro-gun reforms remain included in S 308, and we will continue to keep you updated as this legislation progresses through the General Assembly. Please contact your state Senator and urge him or her to work with the NRA to pass S 308 as soon as possible.
