Tonight, the Morrisville Town Council will be meeting, and one of the items being discussed is the new state law that limits how local governments may restrict your right to self-defense while in a park that is under local control. Anti-gun Mayor Jackie Holcombe, a member of the radical national gun ban group, "Mayors Against Illegal Guns," founded and funded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, has made statements indicating she may support efforts to try to circumvent the intent of this new state law, and attempt to impose restrictions on Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) holders who choose to visit these parks. Councilmember Mark Stohlman, on the other hand, stated, "These are law-abiding citizens. They have a valid concealed permit. I think everyone has the right to be in parks.”
Please attend this public hearing tonight, and voice your support for the right to self-defense and opposition to any efforts to circumvent the intent of the state law that took effect on October 1.
This meeting will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers at 100 Town Hall Drive in Morrisville. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact members of the Town Council to express your support for the state’s new pro-gun law.
