Please call and e-mail members of the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen Now!

Today, October 2, the City of Kingsport will hold a public hearing to discuss the adoption of a new Code of Ordinances for the city.  Among these new ordinances is one that would make it illegal for persons to carry a firearm in a city park, or any building or facility operated by the city for park or recreational purposes.  Law-abiding gun owners who possess a valid handgun carry permit would not be exempted from this misguided ordinance.  This ordinance would burden law-abiding gun owners by unduly restricting their self-defense rights.

A copy of this proposed ordinance can be found here (on pages 26 and 27).

The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet today, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room of the Kingsport City Hall at 225 West Street in Kingsport.  The public will be able to speak during this meeting but there is a limited amount of time for public comment.  So if you plan on attending this meeting, be sure to arrive early.
