Please call and e-mail members of the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen Now!
Today, October 2, the City of Kingsport will hold a public hearing to discuss the adoption of a new Code of Ordinances for the city. Among these new ordinances is one that would make it illegal for persons to carry a firearm in a city park, or any building or facility operated by the city for park or recreational purposes. Law-abiding gun owners who possess a valid handgun carry permit would not be exempted from this misguided ordinance. This ordinance would burden law-abiding gun owners by unduly restricting their self-defense rights.
A copy of this proposed ordinance can be found here (on pages 26 and 27).
The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet today, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Room of the Kingsport City Hall at 225 West Street in Kingsport. The public will be able to speak during this meeting but there is a limited amount of time for public comment. So if you plan on attending this meeting, be sure to arrive early.
The NRA encourages you to attend this meeting. If you are unable to attend, please respectfully contact Mayor Phillips, Vice Mayor Parham, and the Kingsport Aldermen in opposition to this overreaching anti-gun ordinance. You can contact the Board of Mayor and Aldermen by calling 423-229-9412 AND by emailing the Mayor and Aldermen at the e-mail addresses provided below:
