Anti-Gun Threats Still Looming in Illinois Legislature
Friday, June 15, 2007
However, there are a number of anti-gun bills still viable, State Senator Dan Kotowski's (D-33) Senate Bill 1007, which would ban the manufacture, possession, delivery, sale, and purchase of standard capacity ammunition magazines capable of holding more than ten cartridges, as well as certain firearms with tubular magazines. This bill has already passed out of the Senate, and remains the most pressing threat to law-abiding gun owners. House Bill 758, sponsored by State Representative Harry Osterman (D-14), which would require all firearm transfers to be processed by way of a phone call to the State Police, also remains a serious threat. This bill would require any private transfer of a firearm between law-abiding citizens with valid FOID cards, even family members, to be processed through the State Police. We will continue to monitor legislative activities in Springfield, so be prepared to answer the call to action if law-abiding gun owners again become targets during this session.
