Programs such as Virginia's Apprentice Hunter Initiative make it easier for youngsters and novices in 29 states to try out the hunting experience.
The program, approved in the state General Assembly in 2008, authorizes the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to issue an apprentice hunting license in lieu of a standard current basic hunting license.
