Thousands of Washington residents enjoy sport fishing and hunting, but what does that really mean to the state’s economy? According to a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service survey, Washington anglers in 2001 generated $854 million in spending statewide, placing the state eighth nationally. Hunters generated another $350 million in spending. All together fishers, hunters and wildlife viewers generated an astounding $2.18 billion in spending throughout the state in 2001.
