A full-inclusion hunting bill is coming before the state Senate Committee on Natural Resources this Friday.  Senate Bill 380 would allow all hunters the opportunity to use a crossbow during big game archery season.

Evidence in other states, as a result of similar policy changes, proves that allowing the unqualified use of crossbows helps to retain and recruit hunters.  At a time when hunter numbers are rapidly declining across the country, increased choice and opportunity to hunt can only help increase participation and preserve our great tradition.  It has been shown that older hunters remain in the hunting ranks many decades longer if allowed to use a crossbow.  This allows them much more time to help recruit the next generation of hunters.  Also, younger hunters who do not have the physical strength to adequately draw and shoot vertical archery equipment are able to participate in the archery season pursuant to a full-inclusion crossbow provision.  This helps them get hooked on hunting at an earlier age, before all of the other activities compete for their attention.

Please contact members of the Senate Natural Resources Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to support this expansion of hunting rights.
