Maryland Committee to Consider Banning Trapping!

Monday, March 12, 2007

The Senate Education, Health, and Environment Affairs Committee
Needs to Hear From You Today!

“Animal rights” extremists are attempting to dismantle Maryland’s rich hunting and trapping heritage by proposing legislation, Senate Bill 822 that bans trapping in the State of Maryland.

Make no mistake, this is just a first step that the “animal rights”/anti-hunting extremists are using to achieve their ultimate goal of ending all hunting activities.

SB 822 is scheduled to be heard in the Senate Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee on Tuesday, March 20 at 1:00 PM.

Trapping has long been used as a wildlife management tool to keep populations of predators, like raccoons and foxes, balanced within the environment. Without trapping, predator populations will grow unchecked, potentially endangering the balance that exists between different species.  Songbird, turkey, and rabbit populations could be devastated without this important heritage and wildlife management technique.

MARYLAND’S HUNTING HERITAGE IS AT STAKE!

Please plan to attend the hearing for SB 822, located on the second floor of the Miller Building in the Education, Health, and Environment Committee hearing room, located at 11 Bladen St., Annapolis, 20401 at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 20.

If you are unable to attend, please call the Senate Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee today and urge them to OPPOSE SB 822.
