Former Scioto County Sheriff James Sutterfield was resting in the upstairs of his home in Portsmouth, Ohio when he was alerted to an intruder by the sound of breaking glass. Sutterfield retrieved a gun, went to investigate and shot the intruder. When police arrived the criminal was taken to a local hospital.
