Just after midnight an armed robber entered a CVS drugstore in Augusta, Ga. The robber handed a bag to a cashier and ordered the cashier to fill it with money. The criminal then headed for the pharmacy counter near the rear of the store. The pharmacist noticed the criminal, grabbed his 9mm handgun and confronted him. When the criminal raised his weapon in the pharmacist’s direction, the pharmacist fired three times, causing the robber to flee. The pharmacist has not been charged in the incident. Richmond County Sheriff’s Sergeant Ken Rogers noted, "With the suspect raising his arm, pointing the weapon at him -- he was within his legal right to protect himself.”
