Hannah - Being a CFR during a Presidential election year was such an exciting experience. Although COVID threw a wrench in many events we had planned in 2020, I was able to become deeply involved in the community and connect with many Second Amendment supporters. One of the highlights of the 2020 cycle was organizing and attending a members meeting with candidates running for state and local positions. I also had the opportunity to get to know the folks at the local gun shop in my area. I had the privilege of advocating for candidates that are staunch Second Amendment protectors and I’m glad I was able to participate and make a difference in the 2020 election as a Campaign Field Representative in North Carolina.

Kelvin - Getting hired as a CFR with the NRA-ILA, is so much more than general campaign work. I’m sure you all heard it from other organizations, all they want you to do is knock on doors! Well, that’s in your job description, but so much more comes with the CFR position. Honor, strength, mission focus are some of the words that can be used to describe the CFR program. I worked in Indianapolis in 2018. The grassroots skills I received during this time, I would have not gotten as quickly anywhere else. As a CFR, you are a public speaker, event organizer, and a grassroots professional. Most importantly, you are one of the few working with the NRA-ILA defending your 2nd Amendment rights as a team-member for the oldest civil rights organization in the United States of America.

Robert - My time as a CFR was limited to May 2020 to November 2020. This was a great opportunity for me since I had recently graduated college. It was an opportunity to put values into action to get pro 2A candidates elected. The organization works you hard but takes good care of you at the same time. Overall I would highly recommend the opportunity to anyone who wants to get involved and make a difference.

Lisa - The description of the CFR position highlighted community outreach through events and networking with volunteers. It added direct voter contact, technology usage and working with other Regional and National CFRs to reach our common goal of getting Second Amendment supporting candidates elected. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

My role as a CFR in Wisconsin made me use all of the tools the NRA provided to build and expand a solid group of volunteers. Thinking outside the box in 2020 became the norm, events at car shows, monster truck rallies, flea markets and finding places to hold events during the height of a national pandemic summoned the need for creativity. From working the phones to collect volunteers and affirm voter preferences, to knocking on doors invoking productive and insightful conversations, this position solidified the need for human contact in a year that discouraged such interaction.

I fully enjoyed meeting and discussing our need for our Second Amendment with people of all walks of life. Being a CFR was challenging, rewarding and sometimes frustrating, but all in all was worth the experience. Staying on as an FAL will allow me to continue to develop those relationships with likeminded people that realize without the our Second Amendment rights, we truly have no others.

I appreciate the many people that work behind the scenes and may sometimes get overlooked at the NRA that work every day to insure those rights remain intact. I can proudly say I was a member of that team in 2020.
