Armed Citizen
|

Just before 5a.m., 71-year-old homeowner L. Glenn Littlejohn was alerted to an attempted burglary at his home in Holy Hill, S.C when his alarm system sounded. Having been the victim of previous burglaries, Littlejohn grabbed his 12- gauge shotgun and went to investigate. After exiting the back door and circling around the house, Littlejohn confronted the burglar in the doorway and fired, striking the criminal in the shoulder. The intruder fled the scene, running to the porch of a nearby house where he was discovered by the homeowner, who called the police.
When the authorities arrived, the wounded burglar was taken to a local hospital, with his wounds described as non-life-threatening. The intruder has a long criminal history including assault and battery and burglary. According to police the criminal was also a “person of interest” in three previous burglaries of Littlejohn’s residence. (The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, S.C. 07/01/09) |
