Michigan Drops Hunting Age To 12
Two new laws took effect this year designed to attract new hunters to the sport. The first drops the minimum age for hunting deer, elk and bear on private land by two years to 10 for archery and 12 for firearms. The restrictions on public lands remain unchanged. The second law allows new hunters to try the sport for two seasons before taking the necessary hunter safety courses.
