Arming retired officers with carry permits a smart idea
In 2004, the bill that we have come to know simply as HR 218, also known as the "Law Enforcement Safety Act of 2004," was signed into law by President George W. Bush. Also known as the "National Concealed Carry for Cops" legislation and the "Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004," this law allows law enforcement officers and qualified retired law enforcement officers to carry their weapons while off duty throughout the U.S.
