New Jersey: Gun Rationing Bill Heads to Senate!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Please Voice Your Opposition Today!

Yesterday, A339 passed out of the full Assembly in New Jersey by a vote of 47-28-4.  This bill would prevent law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one handgun within a 30-day period.

This gun rationing scheme falsely assumes that criminals will follow the law by submitting the proper paperwork and purchase firearms from licensed dealers.  A339 will do nothing to stop the criminal misuse of firearms but would criminalize the purchase of more than one handgun a month by law-abiding citizens who have already undergone extensive background checks and fingerprinting.  This anti-gun bill, spearheaded by Assemblywoman Joan Quigley (D-32), implies that law-abiding citizens who purchase more than one-gun-a-month are gun traffickers.

This bill will now head to the Senate.  Please contact your State Senator TODAY and respectfully urge him or her to oppose this attack on our Second Amendment Rights.
