West Virginia: Pro-Gun Legislation Bogged Down in the House Judiciary Committee

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Please Call the Committee Members TODAY!

Senate Bill 515, introduced by State Senator Jeff Kessler (D-2), is currently being held in the House Judiciary Committee. With only two days remaining for the committee to meet, it is important that Chairman Tim Miley (D-41) schedule and pass SB 515 in order for it to receive a vote by the full House.

The bill would make it a crime to knowingly solicit illegal gun sales; which would prevent situations like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's sting operations which are intended to bankrupt local firearms dealers through frivolous lawsuits.

In addition to these protections, SB 515 would also provide a number of technical clean-ups that align West Virginia law more closely with Federal law. These clean-ups would help establish needed protection for West Virginia firearms owners.

It is important that you contact members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to support this bill.  The committee contact information can be located by clicking here.
