South Dakota Preemption Bill Passes House, Heads to Senate!

Friday, February 27, 2009

House Bill 1278, authored by State Representative Don Kopp (R-35), would further strengthen South Dakota’s preemption law that prevents local governments from enacting firearm ordinances that are more restrictive than state law.

The bill recently passed the South Dakota House by a 46-20 vote.  The bill has been assigned to the Senate State Affairs Committee, but it has not been scheduled for a hearing.

Please contact the members of the Senate State Affairs Committee and respectfully ask them to support HB 1287.
