A story in today’s New York Sun, (http://www2.nysun.com/new-york/gag-on-2nd-amendment-is-citys-aim-in-guns-suit/) demonstrates that gun-hating Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s disdain for the Constitution isn’t just limited to his abhorrence of the Second Amendment.
According to the article, “Lawyers for Mayor Bloomberg are asking a judge to ban any reference to the Second Amendment during the upcoming trial of a gun shop owner who was sued by the city.” Highly irregular would be a good description of a gag order prohibiting reference to a portion of the Constitution during a legal trial. Considering the trial judge is Jack Weinstein--who has almost singlehandedly attempted to keep illegal efforts to sue the lawful manufacturers and sellers of guns afloat--we will be waiting with bated breath to see how he rules on this motion. |
