Governor signs Youth/Mentored Hunting Legislation into Law!

Friday, February 15, 2008

On Thursday, February 7, Governor Dave Heineman (R) signed LB 690 into law. Authored by State Senator Deb Fischer (District 43), LB690 passed the Nebraska Legislature by an overwhelming vote of 46 to 1 on Friday, February 1.

This important piece of pro-hunting legislation will create a mentor-hunting program and will lower the hunting age to twelve in Nebraska.  LB690 is part of the Families Afield Initiative that is a cooperative effort between NRA, the National Wild Turkey Federation, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance and National Shooting Sports Foundation.

A special thanks to all the NRA members and hunting enthusiasts of the Cornhusker State for their activism on getting this important legislation enacted into law to help ensure the future of hunting in Nebraska.
