Emergency Powers Legislation Introduced in Kansas!

Friday, February 15, 2008

On Monday, February 11
House Bill 2811 was introduced by the House Committee on Federal and State Affairs and is currently waiting to be assigned to a House committee where action will be taken.  HB2811 would prevent the State of Kansas from confiscating or registering any lawfully owned firearms during a declared state of emergency.

This important legislation will prevent the type of firearm confiscation seen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  HB2811 will allow citizens of Kansas to maintain their right to self-defense even during a declared state of emergency.

NRA-ILA will continue to monitor this important legislation and alert NRA members in Kansas as to when to expect a hearing and vote.  Please check your email and www.NRAILA.org for updates.
