This week, the Canadian Shooting Sports Association (CSSA) pledged its support for a Private Members Bill that would bring to an end Canada's much-maligned "Long Gun Registry." 

Garry Breitkreuz, a member of the Canadian House of Commons for the Conservative Party of Canada, introduced the measure.  "Mr. Breitkreuz has always been a voice of reason in the House of Commons regarding firearms legislation.  This Bill walks the delicate balance between individual rights and public safety perfectly," said Tony Bernardo, Executive Director of the Canadian Institute for Legislative Action. 

According to Mr. Bernardo, the Breitkreuz Bill would not only end the Long Gun Registry, but would also make necessary changes to reduce the exorbitant costs associated with the Firearms Act, with no loss of public safety.
