WISCONSIN - Voter Registration Information

VOTER REGISTRATION

All U.S. citizens, who are at least 18 years of age, have resided in the state for at least 10 days, and are not under felony conviction, are eligible to register to vote in Wisconsin. You can register to vote in person at your Municipal Clerk's Office until the day before the election. You can also register by completing and mailing in a voter registration card, which are available at your Municipal Clerk's Office. This must be mailed in no later than the 13th day before the election. You may also register to vote on Election Day at the polling place. Also, any voter who is located more than 50 miles from his legal voting residence may register before the close of registration by obtaining the necessary registration form and instructions from the Municipal Clerk. The completed form must be witnessed by two adult U.S. citizens or by an individual authorized to administer oaths. The completed form must be received by the voter's Municipal Clerk prior to the close of the Clerk's Office on the registration deadline date for the particular election.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS

If you know you will be unable to make it to the polls on Election Day, be sure your voice is heard by voting via absentee ballot! You may request an application for an absentee ballot as early as six months before an election, but no later than the Friday preceding an election. You may vote absentee in person at the Clerk's Office beginning 21 days prior to a spring election or 30 days prior to a fall election and ending the day before Election Day. A completed ballot must be returned to the municipal clerk on Election Day before the polls close at 8:00pm.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Wisconsin has an open primary election system, which means that all registered voters may vote in either of the party primaries, but not in more than one. When requesting an absentee ballot for the primary election, be sure to indicate which party's ballot you need.
