UTAH - Voter Registration Information

VOTER REGISTRATION

All U.S. citizens, who are at least 18 years of age and have lived in the state at least 30 days prior to the election may register to vote in Utah. You may register to vote in person at your County Elections Office, or by requesting a mail-in application from the County Elections Office. Mail-in applications may also be obtained from public libraries, post offices, banks, and telephone books. Residents of Utah can also register to vote via Utah's Motor Voter Registration Act and at all Utah Driver's License Offices.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS

If you know you will be unable to make it to the polls on Election Day, be sure your voice is heard by voting via absentee ballot! In order to vote absentee, contact your County Elections Office Clerk and request an absentee ballot application. You may request a ballot either in person, over the phone, or by writing your County Elections Office Clerk. If writing, be sure to include your name, address (both where you are registered to vote and where you want the ballot mailed), the election you wish to vote in, and sign the document. Overseas requests must be received no later than 20 days prior to election day. In order for your vote to count, your ballot must be postmarked the day prior to Election Day, and received in the county clerks office by noon on the day of the official canvass. The official canvass for the general election is held the Monday following the election. You may also vote in person up until the day before Election Day.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Utah has an open primary system. Registered voters may vote in the primary of their choice, but may not vote in more than one primary. When requesting an absentee ballot for a primary election, be sure to specify the party ballot you need.
