Nevada - Voter Registration Information

VOTER REGISTRATION

All U.S. citizens, who are 18 years of age or older, have continuously resided in Nevada and their respective county for 30 days prior to an election, and have neither been convicted of a felony, nor legally declared mentally incompetent, are eligible to register to vote in Nevada. You can register in person or by mail. To register in person, appear before your county clerk or deputy registrar, whose offices are usually located at your county courthouse. To register by mail, complete and return a voter registration application card, which is available at public libraries, post offices, and various state agency offices. You can also register to vote at your local Department of Motor Vehicles.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS

If you know you will be unable to make it to the polls on Election Day, be sure your voice is heard by voting via absentee ballot! To obtain your absentee ballot, you must write to your County Clerks's office and request an application for an absentee ballot. Complete and return the application form as soon as possible. All applications for absentee ballots must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding the election. Once your County Clerk receives your absentee ballot application, he/she will send you an absentee ballot. In order for your vote to count, your completed ballot must be received no later than 7:00 p.m., on Election Day.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Nevada has a closed primary election system, which means that voters can only vote in the primary election of the party in which they are registered.
