VOTER REGISTRATION

All U.S. citizens, who are at least 18 years of age by Election Day, are residents of the state, and are neither under felony conviction nor legally incompetent, are eligible to register to vote in Missouri. You may register in person or by mail through the Department of Motor Vehicles or the election authority in your jurisdiction, such as the County Clerk or Urban Board of Elections. Mail-in voter registration cards are available at the Secretary of State's office and all local County Clerk's offices.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS

If you know you will be unable to make it to the polls on Election Day be sure your voice is heard by voting via absentee ballot! Submit an application in person or by mail to the election authority in your jurisdiction. The application request must be made in writing and must include your name, the address where you are registered, the reason for voting absentee, and the address to which the ballot should be mailed. Your written request must be received by the election authority in your jurisdiction by the Wednesday prior to Election Day. To be valid, your completed absentee ballot must be received by the election authority in your jurisdiction by 7:00 p.m., on Election Day. You may also vote absentee in person at your County Clerk's office beginning 45 days prior to Election Day.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Missouri has an open primary system, which means all registered voters may vote in any one of the party primaries, but not in more than one. When requesting an absentee ballot for a primary election, be sure to specify the party ballot of your choice.
