Idaho - Voter Registration Information

VOTER REGISTRATION

All U.S. citizens, who are at least 18 years of age, have resided in the state for at least 30 days, and are not under felony conviction, are eligible to register to vote in Idaho. To register, simply complete and return a mail-in voter registration application card, which is available at public libraries, and many county and state agencies, such as the County Clerk's office. You can also register in person at your County Clerk's office or at your local Department of Motor Vehicles.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS

If you know you will be unable to make it to the polls on Election Day, be sure your voice is heard by voting via absentee ballot! To obtain a ballot, application must be made to the County Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m., on the day prior to the election. The application must contain your name, home address, county, and the address to which the ballot should be sent. The absentee application must be signed personally in the presence of a notary public or other officer with functions similar to a county clerk. The absentee ballot must be returned to the issuing officer by 8:00 p.m., on the day of the election.
PRIMARY ELECTIONS

Idaho hosts an open primary election system, meaning all registered voters may vote in either of the party primaries, but not in more than one. When requesting an absentee ballot for a primary election, be sure to specify the party ballot of your choice.
